OUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS ADS

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

One of our favourite thing about Christmas HAS to be the creative, emotional and fun ads that brands scatter across TV - making you laugh, cry and drool over food.

Whether it's supermarkets or beauty brands, Christmas ads have become a staple in British Christmas culture - don't you think?

Here is a rundown of our favourite Christmas ads this year...

1. M&S - CHRISTMAS FOOD

M&S is known for its delicious Christmas specials and bubbly fizz, and their new ad is no different. With the two main characters being a dog's duck toy and a fairy, the story shows the friendship between the two, and then highlights the delicious dinner surprises that they've planned this year!

The toy has been pulled apart by the pup, and is going to be 'filled' by the delicious dinner that M&S has to offer.

The advert is fun and cute while also making you salivate over their brill Christmas treats... that's a win from us!

2. ASDA - HAVE YOUR ELF A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This, in our opinion, has to be up there with one of the best Christmas adverts EVER. Asda brought Buddy the Elf to their supermarket, and it was awesome.

The twist on the Christmas classic is funny and clever, and has brought one of the most iconic Christmas characters to the UK's supermarket industry - a brilliant example of great marketing.

3. SAINSBURY'S - ONCE UPON A PUD

Another one of our fave, with the one-and-only Queen Alison Hammond, and we LOVE it.

This ad shows exactly what having a funny and well-known icon can do when it comes to marketing, she's dressed as medieval royalty and digging in to Sainsbury's finest Christmas treats, what more could we ask for?

Throughout the ad you can see one panicked chef trying to make the most magical spread, and that shows how hard we Brits try when it comes to Christmas! We hope you nail your Christmas pud this year too.

4. JOHN LEWIS

This one brought a tear to our eye, we have to admit. The story takes us through a helpless father figure trying to learn how to skateboard, through very much trial and error.

You get the idea that he's trying to be a 'cool dad', you know?

Then the door rings, and reveals he's actually trying to bond with his foster kid, who's also into skating. The ad also highlights John Lewis' support of young people's futures that are in care and that right there... is amazing Christmas marketing.

Christmas ads are one of the highlights of every year's Christmas celebrations, and 2022 did not disappoint. From emotional and great causes, to putting a twist on Christmas classics - the UK marketing industry nailed it.
